JEDDAH — Patrol teams from the passport police have arrested more than 65 brokers who helped runaway maids find work in Jeddah.

The brokers provided housing for maids who fled their sponsors and arranged for them to work on an hourly or daily basis.

Search and investigation teams from the Makkah Passport Department monitored a number of people involved in the illegal activity.

A number of slum houses in the city’s Al-Safa neighborhood were searched and the occupants arrested.

In addition, a number of Indonesian women working as cooks in restaurants were also detained.
