JEDDAH — Women protagonists, their struggles and their triumphs will take the center stage in Zee Alwan’s newest coming-of-age serials.
The new entertainment channel is aimed at Arab family audiences. It offers an array of Arabic serials as well as hugely popular Indian TV serials dubbed in Arabic.
The channel will air two new popular dramas, including the critically acclaimed Khaleeji series “Imra’a Tabhath Aan Maghfira,” and the Indian-dubbed series “Al Banat Zenat Al Bayt,” shedding light on the plight of women in conservative societies.
Making its appearance on free-to-air television on Dec. 22, “Imra’a Tabhath Aan Maghfira” portrays the life of a woman suffering from the rejection of society and the hardships she must endure while trying to put together any semblance of a life after being released from prison.
The show stars renowned Gulf actors Ghanem Al-Soulayti, Zahra Arafat, Ibrahim Al Harbi, Mohammed Al-Ajeymi, and Lamia Tareq, among others, and will air from Saturday to Wednesday at 10 p.m. KSA time.
Multiple award-winning Indian series “Al Banat Zenat Al Bayt,” airing on Dec. 26, follows the story of a woman bent on rejecting the norms of a chauvinistic society. The show comes to audiences in the region at 9 p.m. KSA time, from Saturday to Wednesday, and stars Rohini Hattangadi, Yatin Karyekar, Aishwarya Narkar, Tanushree Kaushal, Kshitee Jog, and Neeta Shetty, among other renowned actors.
