JEDDAH – The “Qirat Competition” was held for students of grades six to eight on September 9 and 10 in the premises of Indian International School Jeddah.

The competition began with the recitation of Surah Yaseen followed by a presentation on the topic “The Purpose of the Life of a Muslim”.

The students were made to understand that death is inevitable and if anything was born it will eventually die, and one day everyone will have to stand in front of the All-Mighty.

It is never too late and hence everyone should realize their shortcomings, repent for it by seeking Allah’s mercy and forgiveness, pray and glorify Allah five times a day.

Thirty six students enthusiastically participated in the competition. They were judged by Faheem Unnisa and Hajira. The winners were awarded, with Ahadith books from Sahih Bukhari and other known Islamic books, by Maria Ramaswamy, Headmistress of grade six – eight section.

Ramaswamy also spoke about the importance of praying, doing good deeds and constantly having the fear of God.

The competition was organized and compered by Islamic Studies teachers Rafia Jabeen and Nikath Abdullah. — SG
