Ahly held by Berekum to lose perfect record

JOHANNESBURG — Al Ahly of Egypt surrendered a perfect 2012 CAF Champions League Group B record when held 1-1 at Berekum Chelsea of Ghana Sunday. Mid-year signing Oussou Konan from Ivory Coast put the famous Cairo club ahead four minutes before half-time in Accra and Jordan Opoku equalized six minutes after the break. Record six-time champion Ahly hammered surprise qualifier Chelsea 4-1 in Egypt two weeks ago. Captain Tresor Mputu, meanwhile, created both goals as TP Mazembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo completed a CAF Champions League double over Zamalek of Egypt by winning 2-1 in Cairo. — Agencies
