Hayes lifts US over Ghana

HIROSHIMA, Japan — Maya Hayes scored a hat trick to lead the United States over Ghana 4-0 Monday in the Americans’ opener at the Women’s Under-20 World Cup. Kinda Addai’s own goal in the 20th minute put the US ahead. Hayes doubled the lead five minutes into the second half, heading in a cross from Kealia Ohai, and made it 3-0 in the 74th with a right-footed shot from just outside the penalty area.
