Chelsea’s Lukaku joins West Brom on loan

LONDON — Chelsea’s teenage striker Romelu Lukaku joined Premier League side West Bromwich Albion on a season’s loan Friday. Lukaku has struggled to make his mark at Stamford Bridge since an £18 million transfer from Anderlecht last year and the Belgian international has opted for a switch to the Hawthorns in his search for first-team action. The 19-year-old was prevented from being loaned out last season under FIFA rules, having already played for Anderlecht, but those barriers were lifted this summer, much to Lukaku’s delight. — AFP
