RIYADH —  Jarir Marketing Co., Saudi Arabia’s largest stationery and electronic products retailer, Saturday announced plans to open 10 new showrooms over the next two years.

Abdulkareem Al Agil, Jarir’s CEO, said management has signed contracts to open the new showrooms as part of Jarir’s plan to open outlets in all cities in Saudi Arabia.

The announcement comes as Jarir Bookstore opened its latest showroom in Riyadh, its ninth showroom in the city.

The outlet brings the total number of Jarir showrooms to 32 in Saudi Arabia and GCC countries, the company said in a statement to the Saudi bourse.

Agil said Jarir had invested more than SR15 million in the new showroom which offers more than 7,000 office and school supplies and more than 30,000 titles of Arabic and English books, and electronics.
The company said last month its second-quarter profit increased 8.4 percent.

The company said in a statement that it saw an increase in sales of all Jarir categories specially smartphones, tablet PCs and video games.

It said estimated net profit reached SR106.8m compared to SR98.5 million in the same period last year.

However net income was down by 35 percent compared to the previous quarter, the statement said. — SG/Agencies
