Erfan Hospital excels in JBL

JEDDAH — Erfan Hospital beat Saudia Catering 54-44 to record back-to-back wins in 2012 JBL 2nd Conference Non-Rated Basketball Tournament at Bin Mahfouz basketball court here recently.

Erfan Hospital’s run-and-gun offense wore down the two giants of Saudia Catering as it cruised to victory. Saudia Catering started to lose its steam in the final quarter. Valle had 14 points for Erfan Hospital and was adjudged the Giordano Player of the Game, while Jeffrey Cabaobao scored 9 points for Saudia Catering.

Another match saw STC Terabytes beat Mahmoud Gharib 68-61. STC Terabytes of coach Randy Tuazon showed what it is made of in the fourth quarter when its defense kept Mahmoud Gharib in check in the last two minutes. Lloyd Zamora led the winner with 17 points and was adjudged the Saudi Sign Player of the Game, while Charlie Bioca top scored with 17 points for Mahmoud Gharib.

Aces of Tanny Delis demolished Rabya 75-57. Aces outplayed its rival in all departments to score a crucial win. Ismail led Aces with 16 points and to claim the JBL Player of the Game honor. Garcia and Lico had 16 points apiece for Rabya.

In Thursday’s action, Bradley Braves of Herckie Mendoza beat Red Sea Pirates 69-63. Bradley Braves played its offense wisely in the last quarter as the Pirates missed important baskets to fall behind. Alturas top scored with 17 points for Bradley Braves and was awarded the Al-Haddaf Player of the Game honor. Quintana led the Red Sea Pirates with 15 points.

Jeddah Rockers defeated DHL Express 76-48. Coach Francis Galego stifled the DHL Express playmakers to add another win to his résumé. Paul Villareal had 15 points for Jeddah Rockers and was adjudged the Wael Player of the Game, while Ante scored 14 points for DHL Express.

Another outing saw Saudi Diyar score a 76-70 win over ALJ Toyota. Saudi Diyar played like a team to eke out the win. ALJ Toyota gave a good fight in the final quarter, but failed to catch up with Saudi Diyar. Junar Manila scored 10 points for Saudi Diyar and was adjudged the JBL Player of the Game, while Jams led ALJ Toyota with 15 points.
