JOHANNESBURG — Former South Africa wicketkeeper Mark Boucher says he lost the lens, iris and pupil of his left eye in the accident that forced him to retire early. In a statement Wednesday, Boucher said he’s had two major operations and four blood drainings from his injured eye. He said his injury kept him indoors as light would hurt his eye and that he would probably not play professional cricket again in the near future. Boucher was injured in South Africa’s tour game against Somerset in July. He was hurt while keeping to leg-spinner Imran Tahir as the ball hit the bail, which then ricocheted into his eye. — AP
