Moroccan runner Selsouli fails test

Last updated: Tuesday, July 24, 2012 2:31 AM

PARIS — Moroccan runner Mariem Alaoui Selsouli is reported to have tested positive for doping on the day she clocked a world season-leading time in the 1,500 meters, jeopardizing her place at the London Olympics. French sports daily L’Equipe reported that the World Anti-Doping Agency-accredited laboratory in Paris found a banned diuretic in her urine sample taken July 6. That day, Selsouli timed 3 minutes 56.15 seconds at the Paris Diamond League meeting. Athletics’ governing body, the IAAF, said it “cannot confirm anything at this time” about the doping allegation. — AP
