Cruz shines, Great Balls of Fire clinches a double

RIYADH – Ed Cruz sparkled to help Great Balls of Fire claim a double – Best Bowler and Team of the Wek awards – in the 8th Week of the Itqan Bowlers Group (IBG) Friday Bowling League, 2nd Conference.

The league is sponsored by Hala International and Mabuhay Globe in partnership with Globe. IBG is organizing the event at the Universal Bowling Center (UBC).

The good game of Cruz powered Great Balls of Fire past Itqan Tenpin Wizards, 26-13. Bowler of the Week Cruz, equipped with 18 handicaps shot a four-game series of 943 points on lines of 227, 225, 239 and 180. Sharing spotlight with Cruz was compatriot Jerry Damiray who scored 907. The duo of Ely Fanugao and Jojo Miraflor shone to submit separate series of 862 and 843 respectively. Team mentor Jess Ambon together with Ruben Arinuelo added 471 and 375.

Doy del Moral and Nap Torres led in Itqan Tenpin Wizards by pumping in separate series of 847 and 838. Arnold Jesena and Ronald Cruz submitted 784 and 782 while Ric Singson and Reynald Medina scored 368 and 341.

On other lanes, Itqan Tornado dumped Magnificent-5, 237-7 through the excellent games of Ric Urrutia Jr. (862), Ruben Babasa (791) and Butch Mateo (791). Zaldy Torres shared 591 while Gigi Enriquez added 374. Belle Sabico scored 225 in one game.

Ely Baraquiel toppled 766 points to lead in Magnificent-5. Nelson Respicio, Mar Queyquep and Cris Crisostomo followed Baraquiel by pumping in separate series of 764, 749 and 747. Jun Daniel shot 648 series.

On Lanes 15 and 16, NBA rolled past the do-or-die Bankrun, 23-14. NBA’s stars of the show consisting of Joe Garrido, southpaw Ronald Bautista and the prolific Bandar Al-Marshad sparkled to post 848, 801 and 792. Likewise, the triumvirate of Mike Ecalnir, Joel Batolina and Nelson de Vera delighted by scoring separate series of 493, 438 and 411 in two games. Ryan Inigo registered 393 in two games.

Angelo Train seared the lanes to be at the helm in Bankrun by posting 886 points in four games. Marco Torres pinned down 808 and was followed by fellow members Angel Cassi (789), Gerry Ayonon (731) and Joy Salandanan (711).

In other matches, Roll and Bowl scored victory against Saco, 21-15. Andy Carasig and Archie Oliva topscored in Roll and Bowl by scoring an identical series of 850 in four outings.

George Sto. Domingo was at the helm in Saco with 830 and 820 points.
