RIYADH – Michael Victor and Buddy Rolano put up another spectacular performance during the 8th week showdown of the LBC sponsored doubles tournament being played at the Idol Billiards Center here.
The duo managed to clinch two more wins in the losers’ bracket after a sorry loss to Mar Bernardo and Alex Seguido in the winners’ bracket during the sixth week encounter. They first clinched an easy win against Arnold Nario and Ramiro Gonzales, 5-2, and then repeated the scenario against Mike Dumasil and Moods Mohamed, 5-2 and secured a sure third place in this league. The pair will test their billiard skills against Lito Santos and Mike Monta?er in the last leg of losers’ bracket.
Santos and Monta?er were once leaders in the winners’ bracket but were also thrown out by Bernardo and Seguido. The winner in this match will face Bernardo and Seguido in the championship round, twice to beat and race-to-seven matches.
For Dumasil and Mohamed, it was a big upset as they had already swept four straight wins in the losers’ bracket only to be ousted by Victor and Rolano in their last two games to reach the finals.
In the previous matches in the losers’ bracket, Robin Tan and Marlon Bersabe managed to sweep two wins before surrendering to Vic Bignos and Sammy Alem who had also secured two wins after that. Unfortunately, they also lost to Arnold Nario and Ramiro Gonzales.
Nario and Gonzales also bagged two wins before bowing to Victor and Rolano but managed to walk home with the fifth place. Dumasil and Mohamed on the other hand secured the fourth place after a 5-2 win-loss record. Victor and Rolano had the most victories of six with one loss.
