Apl holds Filipino music concert in LA

Apl.de.Ap of the Black Eyed Peas is certainly proud of his Filipino heritage, which will be showcased in an event he is organizing at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on July 8.

The event, dubbed “Apl.de.Ap Takes You to the Philippines — A Celebration of Global Filipino Music,” will be the first all-Filipino original music concert at the venue, said the singer, who is Allan Pineda in real life.

Many other Filipino artists will grace the concert, including singers Martin Nievera and Ogie Alcasid, the Sandwich band, as well as others based in the US.

Among prominent Filipino-Americans expected at the event are singer Nicole Scherzinger, who shot to fame as part of the Pussycat Dolls; actor Lou Diamond Phillips; and Vanessa Hudgens (“High School Musical,” “Sucker Punch”). — Agencies
