India thrashes France in Olympic warm-up

LE TOUQUET, France – Eight-time Olympic field hockey champion India thrashed France 4-0 in a warm-up match for the July 27-August 12 London Games here Saturday. The trouncing followed an 8-2 victory the Indians notched up over the French Thursday. India has won more Olympic field hockey gold medals than any other country, although the last of its triumphs came in 1980. It is drawn with defending champion Germany, South Korea, New Zealand, Belgium and the Netherlands in Pool B of the group stage. Pool A comprises Australia, Argentina, Spain, Great Britain, Pakistan and South Africa. — AFP
