JEDDAH – Festivals and events planned for the summer holidays have been deferred due to the death of Crown Prince Naif. Ahmad Al-Ghamdi, head of media center at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said Sunday that all Jeddah festival activities and events will be postponed until the end of this week, adding that the decision will affect 360 cultural, sport and entertainment events.
The Riyadh Chamber of Commerce has also announced that planned festivals are on hold until an announcement at the end of this week. Majid Al-Hokair, head of the tourism committee at the Riyadh Chamber, said that the 30-day festival will resume its activities later.
The Eastern Province summer festival has also been postponed based on directives from its mayor Daif Allah Al-Otaibi. All planned activities including folklore and dance shows have been stopped for three days.
ARAMCO’s cultural summer program that is organized in Dhahran, Riyadh and Jeddah will be also stopped for three days. Similarly, planned festivals in Al-Ahsa and other regional events elsewhere are expected to resume after the three-day mourning period.
