Emir briefed on Turbah and Al-Khurmah projects

JEDDAH — Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, Emir of Makkah region, concluded his visit to Turbah and Al-Khurmah governorates Sunday after heading the meetings of the local councils in both governorates.

He was briefed on the SR2.6 billion worth of projects that were recently completed and others that are currently being carried out. Prince Khaled also met with notable figures and tribal chiefs.

According to a report released by Turbah’s local municipal council, 26 projects worth SR140 million have been carried out in different sectors.

Some of the projects that were recently completed include an electricity project to improve the quality of Turbah’s electricity grid and the construction of a dialysis unit and a health center. The total cost of projects implemented and approved for the fiscal year 2011-2012 was SR1.35 billion.

In Al-Khurmah, 23 projects worth SR616 million are being completed in the sectors of transportation, water, education and roads. Some 260 residential units are being built under the supervision of the Ministry of Housing and four electricity projects are being carried out in the governorate which has a population of 60,000. Several schools are also being constructed.

Other development projects include building an industrial secondary institute and a strategic reservoir for water.
