70 illegals arrested in Madinah

MADINAH — Police here raided several houses in different districts and arrested 70 undocumented workers who were selling small goods and meals prepared in unhygienic kitchens to pilgrims and visitors.

The illegal residents were referred to the Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution for further investigation before being deported to their respective countries.

Col. Hashim Al-Radadi, Madinah Passport Directorate spokesman, said intensive raids are being conducted to eradicate the phenomenon of illegal street hawkers, especially during the Umrah and Haj seasons. — SG
