Grand ‘Foundation Day’ celebrations

“Like a spring that grows and flows into a great waterfall, the beginning of all great things are small.” These words were heard in Al Wurood International School, Jeddah during the Foundation Day celebration on May 2, as it reminisced its establishment in the city of Jeddah in 1999.

It was a red-letter day in the annals of the school history as the members shared their memories, achievements and milestones they covered, in a grand celebration at the Impala Villa.

Chairman P.V.Abdul Wahab and all the other members of the governing board of PEEVEES Group of schools had conveyed their special messages for the foundation day.

Hyder Ali Shihab Thangal, the state president of Indian Union Muslim League and a prominent spiritual and political leader presided over the function. Other prominent guests in attendance were V.P. Mohammed Ali, director; A.M. Ashraff, general manager; S.M. Noushad, group manager; Jamal Quadri, chairman of Urdu Academy; Musthapha Thoppil, manager (Administration and Finance).

Principal K. Rahamathullah welcomed the gathering, presented the annual report and administered an oath for the teachers. The school received the “International Award for Young People” in an official launch of the “Duke of Edinburgh’s Award in a grand function that ensued eleven staff members who have rendered 10 years of service toward the school. Class toppers for the year 2011-2012 were honored too. As a grand gesture to share their jubilation and celebration, the staff and students organized a rich cultural program that included dazzling dances, mellow melody, a documentary, a daring display of karate and yogasanas. — SG
