YANBU — Three months have passed and Yanbu General Hospital continues to deny a father the dead body of his infant son who died inside the mother’s womb because of charges that doctors delayed the birth procedures.
The hospital asked the father to bring a letter from Yanbu Police before handing over the corpse which has been kept in the morgue for the past three months.
The father, Mubarak Al-Sinani, accused the doctors who were in charge of delivery of failing to respond quickly and which ultimately led to the unborn infant’s death. The father immediately filed a complaint against the hospital accusing them of negligence.
Dr. Abdul Saeedi, director of the health sector in Yanbu Governorate, confirmed that the father must produce a letter from the police stating his intentions to collect the dead body.
The father charged that the committee formed to investigate the causes of death has not taken any action so far because the doctor who administered anesthesia on the mother has been on vacation.
“I don’t know what to do. The hospital wants me to get a letter from police while police says it’s not their responsibility to issue any such letters. All I want is to bury my baby boy.”
