Last updated: Saturday, April 07, 2012 2:01 AM

RIYADH – Over 2,000 members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice (Hai’a) have taken courses to develop the skills needed to deal with diplomats, tourists and foreign residents, said Sheikh Dr. Abdul Lateef Aal Al-Sheikh, the Hai’a chief.
Aal Al-Sheikh was quoted Friday as saying in a section of the Arabic press, that the courses have improved the skills of its members.
“We’ll continue training our staff and offering them courses in Shariah and other fields to enable them to deal with different categories of people including diplomats, tourists and expatriates.”
The Hai’a continues to work with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities in this regard, said Aal Al-Sheikh.
Over 500 Hai’a staffers have attended courses designed specifically on how they should treat diplomats. These members will undertake a further 10 courses.
“We told our staff that they could pursue their secondary and undergraduate studies if they want and we’ll facilitate this process for them.”
Aal Al-Sheikh said the Hai’a is working to introduce call centers with some companies already offering to operate these centers. The Hai’a in coordination with the concerned authorities will set up a single number to be used by the call centers, he explained. – SG/SPA
