Ministry to introduce law for transparent pricingTAIF – The government’s housing strategy includes plans to build inexpensive houses for the poor, stop random construction and draft framework legislation for the industry. These are all recommendations contained in the first draft of the strategy published recently by Al-Madina newspaper.
The Ministry of Housing’s specialists and consultants held a meeting on Saturday to discuss the proposals. Dr. Shuwaish Bin Saud Al-Dhuwaihi, Minister of Housing, urged all concerned personnel to continue working hard to prepare the strategy.
The government wants to boost the stagnant housing market and ensure it meets the needs of citizens, the minister said.
The government also wants to decrease the standard size of a house from the current 250 square meters because this will help make the homes more affordable for working class people, he added.
Different types of housing should be built to provide greater choice and more units for citizens, it has been proposed.
The ministry wants to introduce a law to ensure transparent pricing takes place in the market and ease the home loans process. It also wants to make sure houses are built in rural and remote areas. — SG
