DHULAM: The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) now requires all shipping and mail companies to report all the medications they transport, an official from the SFDA said Tuesday.
He said the SFDA has asked the companies to provide it with the names of medications before distribution.
The coordination with the companies, the official said, is aimed at preventing the transport and distribution of banned and unregistered medications and herbal remedies.
The move comes in the wake of an upsurge in the purchasing and selling of remedies via the Internet.
“The remedies sold online are suspicious and half of them are counterfeit,” the official said.
