JEDDAH: The Local Council for Development of Jeddah has delegated the Society for District Centers to coordinate with the General Organization for Social Insurance to study the needs of poor families in districts harmed by floods and refer the results to the council for its approval.
Hassan Al-Zahrani, Secretary General of the Society for District Centers in Jeddah, said the committee has been tasked with listing the names of the poor families affected by the floods and gathering other information.
“In its recent meeting, the Local Council discussed the Social Committee’s study of demographics in the governorate, in the light of the latest developments in districts harmed by floods,” he said. “The council issued its directives to benefit from earlier surveys by charitable societies.”
Al-Zahrani said the society’s executive committee has held several meetings to review daily work reports and assistance provided by the District Centers.
Al-Zahrani said a comprehensive report would be prepared on the affected areas and submitted to Governor Prince Mish’al Bin Majed. The report will highlight immediate measures to be initiated in affected areas, he said.
The official said the Committee for Coordinating Relief Work in Jeddah has allocated seven districts for the Society for District Centers to provide aid and support to flood victims there.
