520,000 fake car parts seized

MADINA: The Customs Department at Jeddah Islamic Port (JIP) has seized more than 520,000 counterfeit car parts shipped in one consignment, one of the year’s largest cases of its kind in the Kingdom, officials said.
The spare parts were discovered during an inspection of imported containers when an official noticed the stamps said the parts were made in Japan, despite their source being China, according to a report. The 18 different kinds of parts for American and Japanese cars would have fetched millions of riyals, officials said.
Customs workers seized 520,160 counterfeit spare parts in 10,593 boxes.
