JEDDAH - Four notaries public charged with six crimes will be transferred from Jeddah Prison to a prison in Riyadh to stand trial at the punitive circuits of the Board of Grievances on charges of fraud and forgery.
Sources told Okaz that the accused notaries would be tried in the few next weeks. Article One of the pleading rules issued in 1985 empowers the Chief of the Board of Grievances to refer any case to any of the board’s branches in any part of the Kingdom.
The sources said the four notaries, who are from the First Public Notary in Jeddah, were allegedly involved in financial and administrative corruption and forging deeds.
The sources said the general prosecution also charged them with misuse of power and bribery.
The four notaries are all implicated in forging documents and fraudulently registering a title deed for land located in Thaul in north Jeddah. The area of the land is 2.58 million square meters.
It was illegally distributed equally among a number of people at a price of SR600 million.
The sources said the four notaries public, who were arrested three years ago, have the right to hire lawyers since all of them are charged with public rights crimes. – Okaz/SG
