Taif parks on flood routes to be removed

TAIF - The Municipal Council in Taif has ordered the removal of public recreation parks located on valley courses as a precautionary measure against flash floods. Council chairman Hisham Al-Zear said the move, approved at last Monday’s meeting, would involve the use of “D.I.M., which is the latest system for identifying the locations of valleys and flood routes in order to divert their paths away from populated areas.”“The Mayoralty brought in a consultancy firm 10 months ago to identify the valleys and flood routes,” Al-Zear said. – Okaz/SG
