Jeddah – The old Al-Ruwais District, which has been aging gracefully, will have a facelift with new social, educational, and health projects, said Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, Emir of Makkah Region, Wednesday.
The Emir was speaking at the launch of the district’s development homepage on the Internet, vowing his own personal follow-up on all development projects in the region.
The Ruwais development project will provide the district with new housing units, schools, hospitals, vocational training centers, mosques, and parks to keep pace with the social and economic growth of the city, Prince Khaled said.
The core development project of Ruwais has been planned around a medical city and commercial and entertainment centers.
The new development projects will mend the infrastructure mistakes and realize environmental benefits, he said. The development projects will also focus on “human welfare and emergency cases that need immediate attention.”
The issue of illegal residents, whose conditions forced them out of their homeland countries, will be considered, he said, hinting that their legal status would be corrected.
The district will be linked through a state-of-the-art road network, the development project documentary showed.
Meanwhile, Prince Khaled Al-Faisal met President of the General Ports Authority Khaled Bou Sheet who briefed the prince on the latest developments of the Lith Seaport project, 180 km southwest of Jeddah. – SPA
