JEDDAH – Member of the Board of Senior Ulema Abdullah Bin Mohammed Al-Mutlaq has said that persons fearing that kissing the black stone at the Ka’aba may lead to contracting the swine flu virus are recommended to refrain from doing so.
Al-Mutlaq, who is also on the Permanent Ifta Committee and an advisor to the Royal Court, said that “we cannot suspend rituals and we cannot stop people from kissing the stone but anyone who is afraid of catching an illness is recommended to not do so as it will only cause worry to them”.
When asked about pilgrims kissing the stone while knowing that they carry the illness, he said that it was “impermissible for anyone with an infectious illness to pass it on, and going to these areas results in it being passed on.”
“A Muslim is the brother of other Muslims and wishes for them what he wishes for himself, and no Muslim wishes for himself that he catch an illness,” Al-Mutlaq said. – Okaz/SG
