Police clamp down on East Jeddah districts

JEDDAH – Jeddah police have rounded up during a week-long campaign 13 persons wanted for their connection with a variety of crimes and over 1,300 individuals for violating terms of residency. The operations, which were conducted during night hours in the eastern Jeddah districts of Quweiza, Al-Karantina, Ghuleil and Al-Kandara, led to the detention of persons wanted for pickpocketing, handbag theft, selling alcohol, and posing as police officers. A number of car rental firms were also closed down for failing to obtain the correct authorization. – Okaz/SG
