RIYADH – The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has begun to put into action instructions from Minister Saleh Bin Abdul Aziz Aal Al-Sheikh to address the unnecessarily high volume of loudspeakers in some mosques in the capital. A statement issued on Wednesday by the ministry, Al-Watan newspaper reports, said that a team had started inspections during the first week of the current month and had so far reviewed over 90 places of worship. Al-Sheikh said in a recent meeting in Riyadh that some imams were raising the volume of their microphones so loud that mosques were clashing with each other, resulting in worshippers both inside and outside mosques being unable to hear the recitation of the Qur’an clearly. – SG
