RIYADH - The two telecom giants Saudi Telecom Company and Mobily dominated GITEX Saudi Arabia 2009, the international information technology show that kicked off here on Sunday.
Abdul Rahman Al-Jaafari, Governor of Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC), opened the four-day event.
Both telecom companies draw huge crowds. STC is showcasing the championship cups won by Manchester United in 2008 - Uefa and English Cup, while the soccer legends Nick Humphreys and Bryan Robson talk to their fans.
Mohammed Al-Farrah, STC Al-Jawal manager, said the presence of soccer English soccer players offer a whole new experience to the visitors at Gitex.
Mobily on the other hand introduced Arabic-speaking robot and a group of entertainers from Britain and Australia captivated the whole crowd.
The event is open to the public between morning and evening starting from 9 A.M. to 1 P.M. and 4 P.M. to 9.30 P.M. The exhibition will close on April 23.
According to some, GITEX Saudi Arabia has turned out to be a event for telecommunication companies although Zain Saudi Arabia has not participated in the show.

Optoma’s business sales in Saudi Arabia rose by over 300 percent and had cornered 15 percent of the market in third quarter of 2008.
