Child ‘abused’ by teachers shifted to another school

AL-AHSA – Seven-year-old Yusuf Ali, who was allegedly the victim of child abuse by teachers at the Modern International School, Hofuf Al-Ahsa, was transferred to another school by his parents to avoid the constant harassment of school officials and teachers.
“I have now transferred Yusuf to another school, after passing an entrance examination there, in order to end the harassment of him and of my family,” said Mirza Abbas Ali, the father of Yusuf. He said he just wanted to forget the bad experience which his son had had despite the silence of school officials regarding the outcome of an inquiry he had demanded.
“I have sent emails, and requested them personally, to provide me with the written results of their investigation, but the principal and the teacher involved have ignored my appeal,” Ali said.
The school principal, Kasi Saddique, denied that Yusuf had been pinched and scratched with a nail by his English teacher.
Mohammad Anwar, the retired principal of the Indian International School in Dammam, who claimed he is now the consultant of MIS, also denied that the incident happened.
“An investigation was conducted, and it was found out that the incident never took place,” Anwar told Saudi Gazette.
Ali, however, has a medical report from the Al-Ber Charitable Society Medical Clinic stating that there was an inflicted wound on Yusuf’s left lower cheek. “I have decided to transfer my son to another school in order to put an end to this bad experience,” he said.
Parents at the MIS have been seeking the employment of qualified teachers and the improvement of facilities. Three petitions have been sent to the school management requesting the employment of qualified staff and improved facilities since the school was established.
Recently 130 parents sent a petition addressed to the school patron and sponsor asking for the same demands. Even the request that a parent-teacher body be formed was denied. – SG
