Bid to smuggle stolen truck to Sudan foiled

JEDDAH – Just hours before setting sail for Sudan on board a cargo ship at Jeddah Islamic Seaport, the security patrols foiled an attempt to smuggle a stolen Toyota Dyna truck and arrested a Sudanese resident and a Saudi national in connection to the case.
Security patrols uncovered the operation of the two who forged the truck’s papers and altered its chassis number to mislead authorities during the shipping process.
Investigations showed that the two stole the truck from Dammam and brought it to the Western Region to ship it to Sudan.
The parked truck in Jeddah Port was kept under surveillance and security men waited for the departure time.
When it was time for shipping, the security patrols started field investigations to verify the truck ownership and shipping documents, only to confirm their suspicions and arrest the culprits red-handed.
The truck was listed on All Points Bulletin (APB) as stolen.
The case has been referred to Al-Balad Police Station to complete investigations. – Okaz/SG
