AL-QARIYAT – A 55-year old inmate of Al-Qariyat Prison awaiting a death sentence died on Tuesday after choking on her dinner. Fellow inmates rushed to help as she started to choke and called officials when their efforts at first aid failed. The woman died on the way to hospital. According to sources in the prison the inmate had been sentenced to death four and a half years ago for “practicing magic”, but added that the death sentence “was not final.”
The deceased reportedly suffered from several unspecified ailments and other women prisoners had saved her from choking on food “several times” previously. – Okaz/SG
