Saudi woman wins int’l award for autism center

MADINA – Saudi entrepreneur Ghada Ba’aqeil has won the “People’s Choice Award”, part of Youth Business International’s Entrepreneur of the Year competition, for her work in setting up the Ghada Madina Autism Center, the first and only center for autistic children in the city of Madina.
The competition was decided by votes from the general public who chose from 12 candidates from around the world shortlisted for the whole competition. Youth Business International, which has as its president the UK’s Prince Charles, started the competition in 2006 to celebrate the achievements of young entrepreneurs around the world, and Ghada was honored in London on Monday in the presence of the Prince.
Ghada received funding from the Centennial Fund for her project which currently has a staff of 17 women to tend to over two dozen children. – Okaz/SG

The award will uplift her dedication to work for autistic children besides its give other women to join her in this pious service.This award also adds a feather in the cap of kingdom humanitarian services.It is the job of the media to give space for such kind of services to encourage the people in this field and also to educate the citizens about autism.Authorities encourage Ghada Madina Autism Center to held seminars and workshops on autism in various cities of the kingdom.
