NATION Turkmenistan seeks Saudi investment
By Majed Al-Maimouni
RIYADH – The ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Kingdom has called on Saudi businessmen to invest in his country.
Abalakov Mukhamed, speaking at a press conference at the Turkmenistan Embassy in Riyadh Wednesday, described the volume of trade exchange between the two countries as “still at the beginning” due to the opening of the Turkmenistan Embassy only last year. “Some Saudi businessmen visited Turkmenistan last May to look at investment opportunities there,” he said, citing targeted sectors in petroleum, development, infrastructure and agricultural.
In cultural ties, he said, there is strong cooperation between the Kingdom and Turkmenistan.
“There is a cultural cooperation agreement between the two countries, and there is an investment conference later this month with Saudi investors invited to take part,” he said. – Okaz/SG
