First Danube BUILDMART retail complex in Jeddah

JEDDAH – On the behalf of Mazen Mohammed Batterjee, vice president of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI), Mubark Hussain Al-Siraj, deputy JCCI vice president, and Sayeed Ahmed Baba, Indian Consul General, inaugurated an AED 55 million retail complex in Jeddah on Wednesday which is the first branch in the Kingdom of Danube Building Materials (Danube BUILDMART) a leading company in the Middle East.
“We are delighted that Danube BUILDMART has opened a branch in the Kingdom. We welcome them to the Saudi market and wish them great success,” said Al-Siraj.
Danube has branches across the Middle East, with 20 in the UAE. “The Saudi Arabian market has great potential, lots of big projects are underway which is why we thought that it was very important for us to have a base in the Kingdom so that we can provide the best quality building material at a competitive price,” said Rizwan Sajan, the chairman of Danube BUILDMART.
“Driven by our success in the rest of the GCC, we are confident that our presence in the Kingdom will provide a significant boost to the local building materials market,” he added.
The 200,000 sq ft. facility with a 30,000 sq ft. warehouse is part of the BUILDMART retail chain which was initially launched in the UAE and Bahrain. The retail complex offers an unparalleled range of over 15,000 products in 24 different sections.
Danube BUILDMART is the place to find a single source solution, with everything needed for building available under one roof. “We are very confident that we will be able to provide very good building materials at a very competitive price which in many cases will be much lower than what other businesses are charging. This new retail complex is our response to the demand for high quality construction materials, ” Sajan said.
Danube BUILDMART is planning to invest AED 75 million in the year 2009. “We want to grow in Saudi Arabia, which is why we are planning to open many more outlets here. We plan to invest AED 75 million this year and later we will invest more money in this country,” he explained.
Danube hopes to play a significant role in the construction of the Kingdom’s six mega-economic cities.
“Our desire is to truly penetrate the Saudi market and capitalize on its extensive construction plans. We expect to strengthen our presence in this market as part of our strategy to establish Danube BUILDMART as the premier building materials brand throughout the region,” concluded Sajan.
CG Sayeed Ahmed Baba welcomed Danube BUILDMART to Saudi Arabia. “It is a great occasion to have such a well-known company with an enormous showroom in Jeddah. Without a presence in Saudi Arabia, Danube’s position in the Middle East is not complete,” he said. The Indian CG also assured Danube BUILDMART officials of his complete cooperation.
With the growing demand from both end-users, suppliers and contractors, Danube has also announced plans to further expand its presence in the Kingdom with the construction of two new dedicated factories for gypsum ceiling tiles and melamine pressing units. – SG
