JEDDAH – Princess Haifa Al-Faisal Bin Abdul Aziz, Chairperson of Zahra Association for Breast Cancer, on Sunday announced the launch of the second stage of the charity campaign under the theme “million flowers and flowers.”
The campaign is aimed at financing mobile clinics offering free mammogram tests.
This project will be the first step toward establishing three mobile clinics for mammogram tests for the citizens in small villages.
“Our campaign is aimed at collecting charity for establishing three mobile clinics equipped with latest technology,” said Princess Haifa.
The project targets women above forty.
“These three mobile clinics will be linked with the main center for cancer treatment in Riyadh, in addition to other clinics around the Kingdom,” she added “Such linked centers and clinics will help in transferring the information about the cases in rural areas and facilitate beginning of the the treatment immediately.”
Princess Haifa noted that importance of the quick diagnosis of the disease stops the dramatic increase in the cases of breast cancer in the Kingdom.
“This new campaign will allow us to do the first-of-its-kind comprehensive survey on cancer patients around the Kingdom as we are planning to visit every small village to have mammogram tests for the elderly women,” added Princess Haifa.
“These daily tests will help us discover cancer patients early and transfer them immediately to specialist hospitals for treatment,” she said.
Other important steps have been initiated by Zahra Association in other cities of the Kingdom such as Riyadh and Dammam.
“We have started organizing workshops to make women aware of this diseases. Statistics on the disease is also being compiled and various studies are under way to know the causes behind the increase in the number of cases in the Kingdom, she added “Now our focus will be on Jeddah, Makkah, Taif, Abha, Jizan, Al-Baha and the small villages surrounding these cities,” added Princess Haifa. – SG
