Department on medical errors set up

RIYADH – The Ministry of Health will have a new “Clinical revision” department to improve medical performance and reduce medical errors. The department will be headed by Dr. Atef Suroor.
Creation of this department is part of the ministry’s overhaul ordered by Dr. Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Rabeah, Minister of Health, on Sunday.
In other decisions, Dr. Muhammad Bin Hamza Khushaim has been appointed as Acting Undersecretary for Planning and Development, Dr. Ziyad Bin Ahmad Mimish as Assistant Undersecretary for Preventive Medicine and Dr. Aqeel Bin Jam’an Al-Ghamdi, Assistant Undersecretary for Curative Medicine.
Others delegated to high-ranking posts include Dr. Ya’ouq Al-Mazrou’ as Secretary General of the Health Services Council, Dr. Salah Al-Kharraz as Director of Health Affairs in Al-Qassim Region and Salah Al-Mazrou’ as Adviser to the Minster of Health for Supply and Purchases Affairs.
The minister approved the formation of a central committee for patient relations and rights. It will be to lay down a policy for patients’ rights, review the performance of patients’ relations departments in health facilities, facilitate obtaining patients’ rights, increase the level of patients’ satisfaction on services provided to them. – Okaz/SG
