NATION Melee in Madina’s Hai’a office
By Khalid Al-Jabri
MADINA – Madina police are investigating the case of a citizen who has accused the Commission for Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice (Hai’a) for abusing his daughter.
He made his complaint after the Hai’a arrested his daughter with a man, who was unrelated to her, in a mall.
“During their regular tour of malls, Hai’a members detected a man accompanying an unrelated woman,” said Yaser Al-Matrafi, Public Relations director of the Madina branch of the Hai’a.
“They took the man and woman to the Commission office to open an investigation, but a relative of the detained woman came to the office, beat a member of the Commission’s staff and threw away the official papers. Then another man came along with three women claiming that they were the detained woman’s relatives,” Al-Matrafi said.
He added that they turned the office upside down and took the girl to an unknown location. During the melee, one of the women was hit on the head. “We called the ambulance to take her to the hospital but she refused,” Al-Matrafi said. – Okaz/SG
