228 new coronavirus cases reported in Qatar

JEDDAH — Qatar reported 228 new coronavirus cases and three more recoveries on Monday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 1,832 and 131 recoveries, according to statement issued by the country’s health ministry.

The health officials at Ministry of Public Health said most of the newly detected cases are of citizens and residents who recently returned from their travel abroad while some of the cases are of local transmission among migrant workers. All of them have been put into quarantine and are receiving the necessary medical care.

A day earlier, Qatar confirmed another death due to the coronavirus after an 88-year-old Qatari citizen suffering from chronic diseases died of the virus.

The ministry again urged everyone to cooperate fully and adhere to all health guidelines and preventive measures to reduce the risk of infection with the virus, stressing the importance of adhering to the decision to prevent all forms of assembly and adhering to the procedures of domestic quarantine.
