ABU DHABI — The United Arab Emirates on Monday reported 277 new cases of coronavirus and one more death, bringing the total number of infections to 2,076 and 11 deaths in the country, the health ministry said in a statement carried by the state news agency WAM.

As part of the regular media briefing on the latest developments with regard to coronavirus, Dr. Farida Al Hosani, the ministry’s official spokeswoman, said that new cases were detected after screening and examining people who were in contact with the previously announced cases.

The new cases, who are from different nationalities are in stable condition and receiving necessary health care, the spokeswoman said. She pointed out that the increase in the number of infections can be attributed to the lack of adherence to the preventive and preventive measures, social distancing and quarantine procedures, in addition to cases related to travel abroad.

Mourning the death, Dr. Al Hosani said: “We regret announcing the death of a victim of Asian nationality. I express my sincere condolences and sympathy to the family of the deceased and assure them of all the support they need during this period from the government.

She also announced that 23 more patients have completely recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 167 so far.
