JEDDAH — Qatar recorded 126 new coronavirus cases and 21 more recoveries on Friday, Qatar News Agency reported, citing a statement the country’s Ministry of Public Health.

“Some new cases are related to travelers who came to Qatar and others related to contacts,” the state news agency said in a tweet.

All the new cases have been put into quarantine and are receiving the necessary medical care, the report said.

With the detection of the new infections and recoveries, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Qatar now stands at 1075 and 93 respectively. There are 979 active cases in the country as three patients have died.

Meanwhile the number of people who have been tested for the virus so far is 28,413.

Qatar has closed all non-vital businesses until further notice as part of the country’s efforts to prevent the spread of the deadly virus. Vital sectors, like supermarkets and pharmacies, are continuing to operate though.
