JEDDAH — Qatar reported 54 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, taking the total in the country to 835, Qatar News Agency reported citing the health ministry.

The ministry also announced that nine more patients have recovered from COVID-19.

Some of the new cases of infection are related to travelers who returned to Qatar and others came into contact with the infected people, the Ministry of Public Health said in a statement.

All the new cases have been admitted in isolation wards and are receiving the necessary medical care, the statement added.

With the recovery of 9 more cases, the total number of recovered cases in Qatar stands at 71.

The ministry said it has conducted a total of 24,825 tests to detect the infection and is continuing to conduct the necessary checks for all citizens coming from outside, in addition to all individuals involved in the infected cases.

Meanwhile, the Qatari Cabinet on Wednesday passed a series of decisions related to the fight against the spread of the coronavirus, including the halting of home cleaning services and reducing the number of workers who are transported by buses to half the capacity of the vehicle, according to a report in Al Arabiya English.
