RIYADH —
Saudi Arabia tops the Arab world and ranks 5th globally in terms of the humanitarian assistance extended during the year 2019, according to the report of the United Nations Financial Tracking Service (FTS).

The Saudi assistance amounted to $1.28 billion, making up 5.5 percentage of the total humanitarian aid distributed at the global level.

The Kingdom also topped the donors for Yemen with $1.21 billion, representing 31.3 percent of the total aid provided to Yemen in 2019.

Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, adviser at the Royal Court and general supervisor of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid & Relief Center (KSRelief), said in a statement that the Kingdom’s international supremacy on the humanitarian realm comes as a result of the unlimited support that the humanitarian and relief work receives from Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, saying that “this reflects the established values of the leadership of the Kingdom and its people, emanating from our true religion of Islam.”

He sent cables of greetings to the King and the Crown Prince on the occasion of the Kingdom’s winning this prestigious position in the field of humanitarian aid.

It is noteworthy that the KSRelief, in line with the directives of the highest authorities, initiates the registration of all the assistance and support provided by the Kingdom in full and is detailed in the FTS and that is in coordination with the relevant authorities, which furnish the center with all the information and data related to that and update it permanently.

FTS aims to present a complete picture of all international humanitarian funding flows.

Since 1992, it has collected reports on humanitarian funding flows submitted by government donors, UN-administered funds, UN agencies, NGOs and other humanitarian actors and partners, including the private sector.
