DAMMAM — Some social media outlets are offering driving licenses to Saudi women from neighboring Arab countries without training or examination for SR2,500, according to Makkah daily on Sunday.

The Twitter accounts are taking advantage of the large number of Saudi women waiting to obtain the driving licenses and offered to provide them with the same without the need for training or tests.

The accounts noted that the Saudi women will have to wait for about a year in the driving school, sit for the examination and complete other routine procedures.

They offered to issue them with driving licenses from neighboring Arab countries which will enable them to drive for a year in the Kingdom without the need to transform them into Saudi documents.

They said a woman will only have to send them an amount of SR2,500 consisting of SR1,500 before the issuance of the license and SR1,000 after.

The accounts said any Saudi woman interested in obtaining a driving license from a neighboring Arab country will also have to send a copy of the passport and passport-size photographs.

They promised to issue them with the Arab driving license in five days only and said they should not come personally to take the driving test.

The accounts said they would send a woman from their side to sit for the examination in place of the Saudi woman.

A Saudi woman carrying a valid driving license from another country will have to change it into a Saudi driving license but can drive with it for a year.

A source at the directorate general of traffic warned the Saudi women against responding to these advertisements and said all Saudi woman with a foreign driving license will have to sit for a driving test.
