MWS-MASA holds 8th annual awards ceremony

JEDDAH — The Memon Welfare Society (MWS) under banner of Memon Association Saudi Arabia (MASA) held its 8th annual awards and prizes distribution among meritorious students of the community at Attallah Happy Land Park recently.

Dr. Mohammed Umar Chapra, author of various books and recipient of King Faisal Award, speaker and great philanthropist was chief guest while well known Ms Dania Khaled Al Maeena, CEO of first NGO, Al Oula Non Profit Organization of Saudi Arabia, presided over the function. Pakistani TV and stage dramas star Aftab Alam attended as guest of honor.

The award ceremony began with recitation of verses from Holy Qur’an by young Hafiz Abdullah Abdul Rahman Khimani and translated by Miss Anzalna Jawed Kerani. Four students Shamikh A Kader, Munir Siraj, Hamad Kaleem and Hassaan Kaleem recited naat, and an inspirational poem related to parents was read by Jawed Ashraf Kherani.

Irfan Haji Ahmed Kolsawala, president, welcomed the guests and congratulated all meritorious students and their parents for their outstanding pperformance.

Tayyab Moosani, secretary general, briefed the guests about social and welfare activities of the society. Lots of vouchers of free meal and discounted meal at various restaurants of Jeddah were distributed.

Moosani informed the audience that Marium Fouad Chapra had achieved top position throughout Saudi Arabia in Business in A Level Exams and Najaf Ahmed son of Dr Imran A Qader and Dr Fatima Imran secured top position all over Saudi Arabia in two subjects Biology and Urdu in O Level exams.

Moosani also introduced Dania Al Maeena who is successfully running a Non Profit Organization and working on the development of community in general and children in Jeddah in particular and invited her to express her views.

Dania said, “She is very much impressed with the welfare activities of MWS-MASA and she would be pleased to work for the community jointly with the MASA Team.”

She was presented a “token of appreciation” by MWS-MASA. Dr. M U Chapra was also given a memento.

The awards and prizes to the university graduate and post graduates and professionals male & female students were presented by Dr. Chapra while awards to secondary and high school merit students from grade six to high school were presented by Ms Dania Al Maeena and rest of the students were given awards by guest of honor Aftab Alam and other senior members.

There were doctors, chartered accountants, master degree holders and outstanding students of A-Level O-Level and of other lower grades among the recipients of award.

The event concluded with personal vote of thanks by Younus Habib, VP of MWS-MASA to all guests, parents of student as well as the hardworking team of MASA.

He cited Rashid Kasmani, Ahmed Kamal Makki, Abdul Kader Africawala, Sadiq Sorathia, Jawed Kherani, Siraj Lala, Faisal Kasim Tai, Ahmed Irfan, Imran Amin Mascatia, for their contribution and tireless efforts in making the event a success.

The program was conducted by Siraj Adamjee, Wasim Taie and Shoaib Sikander.
