Saudi HRC chief meets with top EU human rights official

BRUSSELS — Dr. Al-Awwad Bin Saleh Al-Awwad, Human Rights Commission (HRC) President on Tuesday met with Hannah Neumann, the Chair of the European Parliament Delegation for Relations with the Arab Peninsula and Vice-Chair on the Subcommittee for Human Rights, at the European Parliament headquarters in the Belgian capital, Brussels.

The meeting was attended by the head of the Saudi Mission to the European Union, Ambassador Saad Bin Mohammed Al-Arifi.

The meeting reviewed the efforts of the Kingdom in supporting human rights and the reforms currently taking place in this field, including the issuance of 60 decisions in all aspects of human rights.

Dr. Al-Awwad explained that the Kingdom is still aspiring toward more achievements in this field under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman.

For her part, Ms Neumann praised the developments taking place in the Kingdom in all fields, especially in human rights and women's empowerment. She also expressed her wish to visit the Kingdom early next year and to strengthen, support and develop relations between the Kingdom and the European Delegation. — SG
