PARIS –
Dr. Hamad Bin Muhammad Al-Asheikh, Saudi minister of education, discussed the establishment of an institute for learning Chinese language in the Kingdom with Chinese Vice Minister of Education Tian Xuejun in a meeting at the UNESCO headquarters here, at the weekend.

Discussions between the two sides also focused on the introduction of a self-defense sports program in Saudi schools, training of Saudi teachers in China, the possibility of increasing the number of Saudi students in China, and ways of enhancing quality of education and learning.

The two sides also discussed the preparation of curricula for teaching the Chinese language in the Kingdom, cooperation between universities in both countries, teaching Arabic language in China, signing an executive program for teacher training, beginning the teaching of Chinese language in the secondary school stage, means of boosting cooperation between the Kingdom and China in various fields of education and joint ventures to enhance interaction between the peoples of the two countries through education.
