RIYADH —
Rare pictures of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman are drawing a huge number of visitors to the historic national exhibition organized by the King Abdulaziz Public Library (KAPL) on the occasion of the country’s 89th National Day.

The exhibition, which started on Saturday, will run through Sept. 23 at Riyad Park, and the Arabian Centers in Al Hamra Mall and Al Salaam Mall.

The exhibition showcases more than 50 rare pictures, exhibited for the first time, documenting the historical phases of Saudi Arabia, including a collection of rare images of King Salman. The exhibition also contains a number of pictures taken from several regions of the Kingdom by researchers and travelers as well as Haj and Umrah pilgrims, highlighting the most famous artifacts having heritage and archeological significance. These cities include Makkah and Madinah, the most aspired spiritual destinations of Muslims from all over the world.

Meanwhile, KAPL, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, is holding a photo exhibition about the Kingdom in the Chinese capital Beijing. The expo aims to showcase the Kingdom’s rich culture and heritage, diversity of civilizations, and its historical development. It also highlights the Kingdom’s remarkable development and major achievements made over the past decades. The Peking University branch of KAPL is taking part in organizing the exhibition.

The library keeps a documentary that covers extensive information including Saudi history and culture with its various elements of literature, arts, traditions and scientific and folklore heritage. KAPL retains a treasure trove of books, manuscripts, photographs, documents, maps and rare books, making it a rich source and reference that enhances the visions of those concerned with research in the Kingdom’s history, its cultural identity, and its various achievements over the past decades and centuries.
